What is Swiss Applesauce Apfelmus?
There is probably nothing more traditional in Switzerland than applesauce! Apple sauce, which is served not only as a dessert but also with main dishes, goes well with pasta, mashed potatoes, sausages and meats, according to the Swiss.
Here is the recipe;
Ingredients for Applesauce Apfelmus Recipe
- 2 kg of apples
- 100 ml of water
- 100 grams of sugar
- One and a half lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon of cinnamon
How to Make Apfelmus?
- Cut the apples into small pieces and remove the seeds
- Add lemon juice to the apples you cut.
- Boil water, sugar and cinnamon in a pot.
- Add the apples to the boiling pot.
- Cover the pot and let it simmer for 15 minutes.
- Apples need to be crumbly, if not dispersed enough, boil for another 10-15 minutes.
- Remove the apples from the heat and blend. Your sauce is ready.
How to Serve Apfelmus?
- You can serve applesauce with meals or desserts.
- Alternatively, you can put the sauce in ice cubes and consume it in summer.
