What are Christmas Cookies?
During Christmas, all bakeries and markets are filled with colorful Christmas cookies. There are dozens kinds of different Christmas cookies. The Christmas cookies recipe I will give in this article is one of my favorites.
These cookies started to be made in medieval Europe for the first time. In the first recipes, ingredients such as cinnamon, ginger, almond, black pepper and dried fruits were used.
Ingredients for Christmas Cookies Recipe
Ingredients for Christmas Cookie Dough
- 500 grams of flour
- Half a pack of baking powder
- Half teaspoon of salt
- 1 cup of powdered sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract (or 2 packs of vanilla powder)
- 250 grams of butter
- 1 tablespoon of starch

- Powdered sugar
- The juice of half a lemon
- Colorful candies (you can buy any kind depending on how you want to decorate)
How to Make Christmas Cookies
- Melt the butter either at room temperature beforehand or in a pan.
- Put the melted butter and powdered sugar in a bowl and beat until it rises.
- Add the eggs and vanilla.
- Then add the flour, baking powder, starch and salt and knead until you get a consistency that will not stick to the hand.
- Cover the dough you have prepared and keep it in the refrigerator for 2 hours.
- Pre-set the oven to 200 ° C.
- Pour some flour on the area where you will roll out the dough.
- Roll out the dough in the thickness of the biscuit so that it is not too thick. (image below)
- Give the dough the shape you want using a mold.
- Lay the cookies on baking paper and put in the oven.
- After about 10 minutes the cookies will be cooked.
- Take the baked and browned cookies out of the oven and let them cool.
- In a separate bowl, mix the lemon juice and powdered sugar. Spread on the cookies.
- Finally, decorate the cookies with candies.
